Cooking is a passion and a creative avenue that I love strolling down. This page will be dedicated to the recipes that find their way into my kitchen, my heart, and my stomach. The Paleo Diet
So, I have had several life changing events in the past month. Probably one of the most drastic is my eating habits. Per my Doctor's instructions, he had me start reading the book It Starts with Food by Melissa and Dallas Harwig. It's a 30 day commitment to eliminate refined sugars, all grains, diary products, beans, potatoes, alcohol from your diet and then reintroduce them into your diet to see if you have any reactions to any of the foods eliminated for the last 30 days. It's the Paleo/Caveman diet and pretty tough to only eat meats, vegetables, fruits and nuts, especially when you've grown up on a mashed potato, gravy and biscuit diet your entire life. I haven't been able to make it the whole 30 days without a slip up (family events/gatherings keep tempting me). But I can definitely tell you I've noticed a difference during my month of stops and starts with the diet - I've lost 12 pounds to date, dropped 1 size in clothes, have more energy, have less cravings, and have less energy crashes than before. I will try to post some of the recipes I've found along my journey (mostly from Well Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love to Eat by Melissa Joulwan.)
